However, there are some toe tapping fun tunes on the project with the highlight being the title track. “Cowboy and the Mermaid” is a tune that rolls along with a cute story backed up by a catchy tune. Other fun songs on the record are “Barbwire Halo”, “The Train Song”, “Brown Paper Koozie Blues”, “Who Put the K in Kountry”, and the salsa-istic “Without You”. “Adam-the Last Soldier” is the most serious song on the CD with compelling lyrics and beautiful musical arrangements.

The Cowboy and the Mermaid is proof that Jimmy Baldwin is one of the most underrated Americana talents in the scene.
